"Evelyn" Gold Cut-out Ring

I feel very confident that I was much more badly behaved. How many little girls earn a nickname like Gila Monster (my real name was Heliana, nickname Hela, which quickly morphed into Gila Monster, and then, well... )

 

It's good to know ones self !

 

I tried not to, but people just point it out so often.

 

I'd wear that proudly - maybe even get a tat of the critter.(LOL) My dad called me Puddin; I'd rather be the Gila Monster.

 

Re methods of discipline for a young child.

Between the ages of 5 or so years old and up to about the age of 7 (before the "age of reason" when a "good talking to" would make me mend my ways) my parents (either one who was offended/or worried about my behavior/safety) would tell me to go out (of the house) and find a "switch." Let me tell you, a little kid can stay out of the house a long time looking for just the right switch on a couple of acres of land.

My parents told me later that the mission to find my own switch worked exactly like they intended. I would be gone a long time trying to find the "right" switch. My parent(s) had cooled off before I made it back in the house with whatever "switch" I found (usually a short, limp stem off some of the shrubbery).
