Featured Cut Crystal Decanter.... Georgian?

Picked this up recently for a song at the thrift. I am seeing similar listed as Georgian or early Pittsburgh Glass. Some are also saying Irish. All the patterning is cut, including the stopper. Neck rings are applied. Has some inclusions, particularly in the neck rings. There is also a bit of frit in the flared top. Don't know if this is indicative of anything but thought worth mentioning. As you can see, it has a ground pontil mark on the bottom and lots of wear. I don't have it in front of me but about 10" tall. Any confirmation for origin and age?

Might be Georgian, how grey is the glass? It’s a classic three ring shape.

Would not say grey. Here it is against a white background.

That is nice. They call this a Prussian shaped decanter with flute cut base and mushroom stopper.
I'd bet 1800-1830 Irish or English.

I didn’t know the they called it Prussian shaped or a Mushroom topper but I agree with glassluv. I got a somewhat similar one recently. That shaped stopper seems to very frequently be used in Ireland around that time. The form of the body too. Nice score!

I got this as the cart was brought out. This thrift brings out 3-tier racks about 8' x 2'. Usually pretty packed with merchandise and swarmed by people as they are brought out. I was part of the initial swarm but have to admit that this was sitting on the cart over 5 min. before I spied it. There was nothing else really good on the cart but this was lost in the quantity. I saw it on my second go-round and numerous other people had passed it by as well. Obviously, whomever priced this had no clue, as it was a pittance.

If it's the Ill-willed place I think it was, it's a bleeding miracle they didn't smash it or chip it. That wasn't a buy, it was a rescue.

My best thrift doesn't allow picking off the stock cart, shoppers must wait until the item has actually been placed on a store shelf. Nevertheless, the stock cart still gets swarmed and followed while the poor store worker tries to do their job.
What a lovely decanter! A Georgian decanter is on my bucket list to find/keep.

The GW here in SC won't let you touch things in the cart either. I have been known to discreetly ask them to please place it in the spot I cleared for them. ;):smuggrin::smuggrin:

The Vinnie's I frequent puts all the new stock out between 8:00 and 9:00 when the doors open. Clothing, toys, linens, furniture and such come out throughout the day. Seasonal and what they deem worthy of the center aisle are put out only before buyers are there.

Not GW. Local charity thrift. They encourage picking from the carts/racks. They line them up in the wide aisles and leave them for quite awhile before emptying. Quite often there are 4 or 5 out at once. Saves them from having to stock the shelves.

Saves them work and makes life easier for pickers. Win/win!

When I went up to Virginia a few years back I was shocked when someone started taking items off a 4 tiered cart that was parked at the end of an aisle. As I said earlier the GW here in SC brings the stuff out in shopping carts & no one is allowed to reach into the cart. Most of the people will place the item on a shelf if you ask politely. I understand why they have this rule as I often see broken glass in the buggies & I would not want to cut myself in pursuing something.
