    I was on here a couple years ago, and have just gotten back to some of my stored lace. I cannot for the life of me figure out this piece...any help would be greatly appreciated!! wide border lace.jpeg wide border lace1.jpeg wide border lace2.jpeg

    Regarding ....?
    What it is? (table runner? center piece of an unfinished table cloth?)
    What the use of those rings (picots) on the sides are? (decoration/to attach it to other fabric?)
    When/where it was made? (no idea ...)
    How it was made? (with a lot of skill and patience :))

    Hi everyone!
    Well, THAT is unusual! In all my years I've never seen ANY lace that has such a thick, almost braided, filling in one of the design elements! It is really quite striking! It looks like a wide 6"? 7"? insertion edging and it looks like it is the "top side" to me. It would be cool to see the back side also. I'm guessing the back "looks" like the back.

    And YES - @Any Jewelry - you are quite correct... machine made. As for when it was made...a rough guess would be sometime in the late 20's or 1930's.

    A cool piece anyway - even if it is machine!
