Hi all! Not exactly jewellery as such, but a belt buckle (I think?). I'm guessing early 1900s, reminds me of peacock feathers a little. I think it's on brass, could be gilt silver I suppose but I haven't tested it. I'm wondering if early 20th century seems accurate and if there is any way to determine origin? No marks that I can see. Thanks as always!

Nice colours. It doesn't look like it was engine turned, the type of engraving used to make the foundation for guilloche enamel. It looks like the texture was cast as part of the cast buckle, and then enameled.
As such I would call it an enameled buckle, not a guilloche enameled buckle.

Agewise I would guess 1960 or 70s, but the costume joolies know more about costume than I do.

It's a great looking piece. Any chance there is a name here or is it just manufacturing lines?

    Stunning photos by the way.

The front looks older than the back. If I hadn’t seen the reverse, I’d have said thirties Czech, but the backside is sixties ish.

Sixties is as early as I'd go on the back; the front looks old, but I have to wonder if it's not 1970s Art Nouveau Redux.

Sure is good lookin!! What stupendous color. Would it be a sash buckle more than belt?

Ok, I took a look through my loupe and it kind of look like something might be there but it's so faint it's hard to tell!

Yes I would think you're correct! I thought it was Art Nouveau when I bought it but the consensus seems to be that it's a revival piece. Oh well, still pretty!

Well it couldn’t be more handsome. As long as you didn’t pay an appendage and an appendage for it I wouldn’t be to displeased.
