Featured 100% Hand Painted or Hand Tinted Over an Image

    I do not own this. But, it is excellent. They are selling it as a hand painted portrait. It's so perfect, I believe it's an image on porcelain that was hand tinted. What do you think?

    On the same page. I bought this years ago, and thought it was hand tinted, and it turned out to be completely hand painted. Which I still find hard to believe. But, my wife took it apart and it was fully hand painted. This is gorgeous.

    Yes, the one you have is a little boy.
    The first one, the enhanced photograph(?), also looks like a boy to me.

    All the more precious because the odds of their surviving into childhood were not good before the introduction of modern hygiene practices and vaccines.

    I found a couple of articles about tinted photos on ceramic items.

    This one is about the ceramic disks with photographs that are still occasionally used on grave headstones. Many of those are damaged, or missing. (Two are missing from the graves of one set of my great-grandparents.)
