European Heavy Wood carved pot with Iron hardware

    I think the whole thing could be made in India for decorative value.

    or for small diameter water wells; then the position of the handle and the two rings would make sense.

    I know I'm late to the party, but how much does it weigh?

    I'm not seeing wood, but the pictures are not particularly revealing and I'm sure it really is wood... but how much does it weigh?

    NEWS FLASH!! I forgot one of the top rules for identification: SMELL. A girlfriend from Europe (with small hands) looked at this pot with me. She felt the interior and it has a crude layer of some type of cement lining the interior. This may be why it is so heavy.

    AND when she removed her hand there were slight gray smudged on her hand. We both smelled the inside and it has a sweet smell of ashes almost like hickory (not cigarette).

    Could this be an ember pot? I don’t even know if this is a thing. What do ya’ll think?

    I don't know if ember pots are a thing, either. Since nobody has commented in a while, thought I would do so to keep the thread going.
