Featured A boaring frame

I was really hoping to find a hallmark on this after I got it home. Sadly I did not find a mark of any kind. Probably a plated item but I’m putting it here in silver anyways. I’m imagining it had a mirror in it. Does anyone think it may have had anything other than that? It may be missing its only functional part, it may only be plated, but damn do I love this little piece. I’m a big sucker for a figural animal on any object, particularly silver/Silverplate though. Any thoughts on where it came from? Guessing late 19th/early 20th century Northern Europe? Russia crossed my mind as a possibility but Europe seems more likely. I didn’t get the eyes under a loupe yet.

I love it ! That sure looks like silver to me ! My knee jerk was French ?

 

It does look pretty good. I’m about 50/50 solid vs. plated. There’s one tiny spot that has a flash of red but it’s a tucked away spot that wouldn’t get touched. Might just be an odd tarnish spot rather than a thin spot in plating showing a glimmer of copper. None of the high spots show any wear at all.

Yeh I though maybe France, Austria, Germany kind of area.

Edit: it would likely be marked if silver and from those places though.

Grapes and boar, wine and hunting, makes me think German. Although they didn't have exclusive rights to wine and hunting, of course.
