    hi folks

something else i found in our local charity shop yesterday, the smaller one (which i think is better/older) has a screw recess at the bottom so must have sat on top of something

they were both only a couple of quid each

tall one is 15 inches, smaller one 8

any thoughts or info on these would be great

The ebonised one is typical of the crucifixes that used to be under a glass dome with flowers etc. I agree, it is the older and better one, 19th century. The other one is early 20th imo.

Technically speaking they are not crosses, because the figure is on them they are crucifixes :)

Great minds ! I've got the black one too-someone referred to it as a portable/travel cross cause u can unscrew it and break it down. It's a very cool form.

Isnt it ? Its sitting on top of a silver wedding mirror. No marks but Ive always wanted that box to be silver. It tarnishes like it !

The little box is nickel. I rescued one like the black crucifix this fall and gave it to someone who's a practicing Catholic. She rehomed it. Sometimes the bigger wall crucifixes have a space for holy water or similar, in case it's needed quickly.
