Located in Ontario Canada. The story I was told was that the item was purchased from an estate sale and that it was sold as Victorian era (suggesting 1850 to 1900).

    Backboard is 66W x 50H.

A Standard Queen mattress fits well, suggesting that it is likely no older than 1925.

There are no identifiable labels or markings. The only clues from the hardware is that old style flat head screws are used to attach the hardware.

The main reason that I doubt the age is the size as a standard queen mattress fits the bed. I suspect I paid too much for it ($600), but it matched the room I was working on.

Any thoughts regarding if actually Victorian (or how to tell the age)

I don't see a lot of age to this. Have never seen an antique bed with a center rail like that. While queen beds may have been available earlier, they really weren't very common until the late 60s- 70s.

Victorian style maybe, but not Victorian. I’ve never seen a wicker bed even remotely like this before, but the Victorians certainly had a fondness for wicker, so conceptually it’s not so very far afield.
Rather handsome actually, and I don’t believe you overpaid.

Pretty piece-Reminds of stuff we used to see at Bombay Co.

It looks like what my father used to manufacture. Is it real wicker or a resin plastic?

Beautiful, but likely no more than barely vintage. Reminds me of the Hemingway line that one of the better furniture companies used to sell.
(I googled and it was Thomasville. They still sell a line with the same name. Oddly, their website says it debuted ten years ago but I remember it in the late 1990s when I was furnishing a previous home.)

I've seen this bed in my lifetime and agree that it's from one of the collections of a furniture manufacturer from about the 1980s or so. It's lovely and well made and I also do not think you overpaid. I don't know why the original seller stated Victorian when it clearly isn't. "Victorian" doesn't give it any special cache IMO. It's either worth the price or it isn't.

I found a line under the 'Ralph Lauren Wicker Collection' label dating to the 1990s until as late as 2010 with very similar pieces. Even found retailers with 'new old stock pieces' that the claim the retail selling price to be around $2,000 for a queen bed, but at auction and at consignment dealers the actual selling prices are down around $200 to $300.

Thanks... that is exactly what it looks like. I found many very similar pieces in those lines by searching.

It is wicker, but modern treated rather than vintage when I had a closer look at it.
