I have a pair of candlesticks. They have a mark on the bottom. It looks like EBH or EBR - with an Angel and a date of 1780. They seem like they are made of pewter (?). The decoration looks like early American. I think they are made from separate pieces and put together.
    So many questions…!

Spoiler alert: I don't know, but I did give it a go.

I have a tiny, amateur's collection of pewter but also have gathered some reference books along the way.

From my books, your mark is not shown in any...but here is what I'm thinking:
.Doesn't look American from the scant references I have

.They use arched columns in the UK but not a lot of angels

.Lots of French angel marks but none with arched columns I found

.The arched columns with angel seem to be more European, Germany or Finland?

.The date (if not a fake mark) might refer to the date the pewterer was admitted to a guild etc rather than a date the piece was made.

Examples of similar style marks and the books they're from

Example of the general shape with a date 1770-90, with push-ups
