I found this at my favorite thrift store today! I asked the manager uf he thought it was real, he replied no, but it looks good - $25 if you want to take a chance.
I did, because I saw the small leather flap inside it with M51127 on it & googling it showed the sa.e style purse.
But, almost all of them are brown, not white like mine?
Is this a real Louis Vuitton
    Monogram PM Ellipse Handbag M51127?
    Fingers crossed!
    Thank you for any help
PS , look at last 2 photos - the metal piece holding the strap is outside on 1 (left) side & inside strap on the right side
Looking straight down in last photo it is the same in the strap on the other side of purse - but reversed?

I dont suppose the lock & key are real - it's spelled right - so I can maybe get my $25 back?
(I guess after finding the Joe Selby painting yesterday this doesn't hurt as bad!)

Fat nope - the suede inside is a big red flag, even to me.

I'm no expert or even close, but the last I heard they'd never used suede.

I agree, burn it. Don't support the fakes industry, even if second hand. It is run by criminals who not only steal intellectual property, but also exploit workers in poor countries and pollute the environment.

A word of advice, don't buy any more 'designer' items. If you don't know what to look for, you'll keep buying fakes simply because the market is flooded with them.

"According to Europol’s report titled “Uncovering the ecosystem of intellectual property crime, ”approximately 86 million fake items were seized in the European Union (EU) in 2022 alone, with an estimated total value exceeding EUR 2 billion (US$ 2.1 billion)."

The chances of finding a genuine designer bag thrift shopping is almost 0%. I speak from experience. Better to expend your energies (and financial resources) elsewhere.

I found one real LV wallet, once, and even then came here to make sure. Dooney and Bourke turns up often here, but it doesn't sell well so only buy it for yourself. Vera Bradley is OK if it's new or a really old pattern. Coach is faked so often that I don't touch it unless it's all leather.

The all leather ones can be fake too... Helped a family member clear some things out and came up with a couple "Coach" bags. She often bought the real deal in stores, but told me she'd picked up those 2 in Mexico. They weren't even the type with the logo all over.

Bleurgh. The ones I like are the saddle leather ones - too heavy to use, but also too well-done to fake economically.
