This one's circa 1946...a hip-roof double hinge. I've taken to saving these - relic of an age of U.S. tool making that has largely vanished. Sears dissolved a few years back.

The last Sears is just about closing this year.
My grandfather had a similar tool box.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

It's nice... reminds me of my late brother, who loved and collected old tools.

I remember going to Sears with my parents in the 1960s/70s... Mom and I would leave Dad in the tool department and go do our shopping. We'd come back an hour later to collect him and it was still hard to get him to leave! (He'd only buy Craftsman brand tools.)

This is the one that started my collecting Craftsman . . . made in Iowa in 1975, 12 over 12 drawer box/chest in excellent condition.

Our Sears was an empty wasteland for years before it finally closed. Now it's been stripped out and replaced with apartments.

I like the style of these boxes. Definitely last longer than the fabric style everyone uses now, but watch those sharp corners!
