It's ~5 1/2" across the bottom face, ~4 1/4" high to the tip of the cover. ~3 1/4" opening, an' the weight, with its cover, is ~125 grams. The copper stock is ~.016" thick.
As you can see, the hammer work is only on the 2 upper surfaces, cover an' urn...it's not very uniformly done, but the effect is not primitive, nor unpleasant. The cover, an' its mating flange, are very well done; perfectly circular, an' nearly air-tight in their fit. The bottom clearly shows the spun nature of the vessel's forming, which is also visible on the sides (interior & exterior) of the urn an' the cover. The top of the urn is a third piece, with a carefully formed rim at its meeting with the body; the interior at that point shows the urn side slightly flared outward to form a 'locked' seam. I cannot see any solder there, but the verdigris seems a tell of an acidic flux, so perhaps it has been soldered...if so very skillfully, without overflow. The cylindrical shape of the body hints that it was perhaps made to be held in another, larger item, similar to many oil lantern founts...but there are no indications of wear to confirm that weak assumption. Is it Arts & Crafts? What else can y'all say?
I have looked carefully, but can find no markings of any kind on it. Thanks for lookin'!
