My favorite episode of Ghost Stories from the BBC is 1968's 'Whistle and I'll Come to You...' which coincidentally stars Michael Hordern.
It was directed by the very fine Jonathan Miller.

was wondering the other day what really makes a scary film/drama

for me the scariest (and i dont get spooked easily) is the blair witch project

just the terrible feeling of being lost, and that guy standing in the corner at the end :nailbiting:

For Christmas Carol the Muppets are my go to. All the excellent writing and teaching and then Kermit, Rizzo, Miss Piggy. What more could you ask for?

Saw the Blair Witch Project when it came out. We didn't think it was that scary or even that good -- but everyone get scared by different things. A book that scared me was The Haunting of Hill House, and the scariest movie for me by far was The Exorcist -- I was an impressionable teenager when I saw it, though.

Yes the Exorcist was so scary. For me Poltergeist was terrifying as well. That poor little boy grabbed by the tree and then his parents walk ouf of the room to find their daughter. I guess he was not the favorite. LOL

I still watch some of the old ones which are so silly, Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, The Blob, Night of the Living Dead.

The original Quatermass and The Pit. The Stone Tapes and a terrifying Tv play with Mary Ure, the name of which escapes me.

and don’t ever read Harlan Ellison late at night.

This plate sold for $75.00 on eBay. I think the repair made the item collectible!

Oh my! The Haunting of Hill House! "Whose hand was I holding????" I read that as a teenager and still remember much of it with chills. And that was close to 60 years ago!

We had an old oil drum in the back yard that my parents used to burn some garden clippings, etc., and when I finished the book, I threw it into the oil drum to be burned, I was that scared, LOL!

I don't have a clue how they accomplished this without shattering the glass but here is an old decanter stapled at the neck DSC03181.JPG DSC03183.JPG

I've heard of it being done, but it was a good trick.
