    hi folks

probably my last pick of 2024, £2 in a charity shop today

presuming its a nephrite jade new zealand thing, not sure what the animal is

wanna thank you all for the time and help you've given me this year

been quite a tough one in terms of selling and buying, but i've held my head high and kept myself afloat as a small business buyer/seller and look forward to the new year

    love as always

Oh I loved Sister Wendy ! I wept when I heard she had died . She could not only describe art in relatable terms, she could help you really SEE it . I look at it this way Charlie,2024 has SUCKED so 2025 has got to be better !

I would like to say my best find this year is the observations I have made over the years from this group- kindness from fellow members living in this world today it is so refreshing , the humor that is shared & read that is a great mood lifter when you really need it. The friendships that have formed within our community that are heartfelt & so endearing along with the care & goodness when one of us is struggling that is given from the heart with follow up conversations with meaning not with empty words , the advice & solutions given with an off the beaten path questions ranging from things that are personal or how do I remove something, the excitement when we log on knowing fabulous things have been posted or even when the ugliest thing is posted. The safety in knowing we have a beautiful community here with our moderators keeping us in line & always have our backs. I am thrilled & honored to be part of this little community that is beloved by us that when it was down we all kind of were lost with some of us in a panic. May next year bring even better finds & stronger bonds. Wishing all a very happy holiday & an even better Nee Year.

Just looked up the post I made Christmas 2018 about Sister Wendy passing away. I am flabbergasted when scrolling back about all the posts and items I have commented on and have completely forgotten about.

I had never heard of Sister Wendy before. What a delightful person! Obviously called into consecrated life. Her death, while sad to those here who loved her, should bring joy as well. This woman knew who she would see as she opened her eyes "on the other side"!

Sweet piece! Almost looks gold, make sure it’s not! I don’t know about NZ but AUS has a lot of gold. That would be a fun combo of native minerals. Gold bird on jade plinth.

I’ve had a really lame fourth quarter. One sale saved me a bit with nearly 5k profit in one click. Otherwise it’s been way down vs. past years. Hopefully people with their Xmas money will spend a lot on our stuff in early 2025. Keep on keepin on!

The cutest little souvenir, with two of the best things NZ has to offer, beautiful jade and the rare but very cute kiwi. A very nice find.
The NZ term for their jade is pounamu, a Maori word.

Another good thing is Maori art of course.:)
NZ has gold too, mostly on the South Island, where most of the jade is too. The NZ goldrush started a few years after the Aussie one, so many miners from the Oz goldfields went on to NZ.

awesome, thanks Aj, never even considered the possibility it might be gold, i very much doubt it, but can't hurt to test it. i did find an example of a small fob with gold content
