Hi everyone, my brother recently sold his house and is asking me to help him identifying a mirror that has stayed in the family for many generations(100 years at least). Sadly since the passing of our last living grandparent we have kinda lost the trail and story of the mirror. Did my own research and scoured the internet searching for similar items but sadly fell short on finding similar items/results.
    All I know is that
-my grandmother inherited the mirror from her aunt in 1980 after her passing
-from what little my mom remembers the aunt got the mirror in Venetia(?) as a wedding gift in her 20s. She was born in 1909 Austria, so probably pre WWII? not sure if the info is accurate on the acquisition date, its been many years and not even my grandmother used to know for certain

The mirror is 2.40m tall and 120 cm wide.

Looks to be a neo-Renaissance pier mirror finished in gilt, ca.1890-1910. Would agree that it’s European and could easily be Austrian or Italian. It may or may not be missing a separate base. Beautiful in any case!

Pier mirror is the term to search. Do think it is missing a base. I would think Italian. If so, could be 20th century in an older style, which would fit with your family history. Otherwise, I would think last quarter of the 19th century based on appearance only. A look at the back might help to pin this down.

Continental European grounded socket, likely EU.;)
Or they simply meant Venice (Venezia).:)
