What about the butt-hole inna middle of its back**...is it a lamp? An' then there's the greenish tone showing at the back, pic 4...serpentine, or?
EDIT:** pic 5 shows it's a shallow place, so not a lamp...but then why?

Where did you get it, and what have you been told about it? Some better photos, without the dramatic shadows, might make it easier to do an image search to find comparative objects. Does the hole go all the way through?

at auction in Dorset England, described as neolithic Chinese. When we picked it up the auctioneer was a collector of neolithic objects and he assured us that it was right. The holes either side do not go through.

-Sorry the piece wasn't older Steve.
It's a real jungle out there when it comes to authenticity.I just ran a Thai Buddha head past Any Jewelry this morning, attractive piece-but a repro.
Sure when i hit the thrifts & am looking at a $5 to $20 piece,i'll take a leap & gamble on it.But i went to a nice antique mall and saw a fair amount of intriguing things for $100-$500. From now on when i see these kind of dollar amounts, i'll just take a deep breath, grab some pics & share 'em here before i yank out my credit card.
The mass of counterfeits out there is as rampant as the hucksters trying to steal your SSI or credit card numbers !

The fact that there are two so similar suggests there may be a prototype somewhere that is being copied, perhaps published and/or in a museum.

@Marote -Nice catch, was it hard to find the "Tiwanaku stone figure Price €45" listing or just a quick Google Lens search ?

I used Google Lens, but the frog wasn't on the page it linked to. It linked to somewhere around page 20 of 40+ pages with items, and, of course, starting from that page, I went looking in the wrong direction  So I ended up spending a few minutes, scrolling through pages, to find it :)
