If moth eaten water stained paper and rodent chewed wood constitute patina then this has it in spades. It's an old(?) poster for "Star" brand crackers and eagle caps whatever they were and the company "The Southern India Paper Cap industries" was based in the oops/bang:dead: India capital Sivakasi. The company doesn't seem to exist anymore although multiple pieces of it may be spread around the countryside:bag:. The sticker on it suggests it the frame was checked to be compliant with the International Plant Protection Convention and there is a piece of slightly eaten paper covering something. Can't decipher the squiggles at all
Can anyone put a date on this????

Think crackers as in Christmas crackers & caps as in cap gun. Pretty explosive.

There are a roll of caps in the bottom left of the poster and the red seperate ones you put in a miniature revolver.
    Happy days. :D

Maybe ask at an Indian Restaurant, the Jasmin in Hindmarsh Square sounds nice

More research has given me a possible date of around the late fifties early sixties. Found a Sieco brand advertisement stating "established 1945".

and research into "Star Geethabali crackers" seem to point to a 1955-1965 Indian movie star Geta Bali.

Jivvy the research is my favorite

I love it so so much.

My guess on dates would be 40s/50s.

But here's who you need to talk to: http://warrendotz.com/contact/

He has written books on firecracker art and India matchbook art. And lots of other stuff.

    the Hindi script reads as
    "Lohiya Book depot"
    .....
    .....
    Sadar Bazar Nagor, Rajasthan"

There is a number on the top which looks like some sort of register number.
That reads as "Ra. Se. Te. No. 362/36147"
My numbers could be a but rusty.
