    Hi all

My first post on this forum, so big hello to anyone reading this first :)

I have a blue bison / buffalo that I'd like to try and find out more about. A google image search hasn't revealed anything, but not sure what to search for other than the obvious. Does anyone have any ideas please? Sorry for the poor photos, it's dark where I am and so these are done with the lights on. As such, it looks brighter coloured in the photos than in reality where the colours are darker and more subtle...

Oh, and in case it helps there's a small round sticker on the bottom which says "Made in Western Germany".

    Many thanks

A big welcome back atcha, Botanic!

Dimensions would probably be useful, but my first thought was "tchotscke. " (I'm sure that's not how it's spelled but I can't think of anything better right now.) Something that sits on a shelf and looks interesting. When the light improves, a picture of the sticker would also be nice to see.

Thanks for the warm welcome :)

Approx dimensions are 32cm long, 16cm across from ear to ear, 22cm high.

And here's a photo of the sticker:

Great, thanks Cheryl. That seems to be it, although I can't see any that have the same finish and most seem to be matt rather than glazed/shiny. But certainly seems right.

Thanks for the helpful and super quick replies :)

I've got a donkey / mule / horse which I thought might be the same maker, but now that I have the name and have been able to search it would seem not. Would it be ok to post some pics of that as well please? And if so, best here or on a new thread?

Botanic: a new thread might be best, but adding it to this thread would be OK also, I think; be sure to click "full-size" for your images.

It was produced with all sorts of glazes over the years...

Marvellous stuff - thank you all.

Could anyone hazard a guess to what it might be worth?

Regarding the other item, I'll do a new post on that now...

    Cheers :)

Interestingly, I've taken some photos outdoors and they've achieved the opposite of what I've expected! The bull is actually quite bright really. I guess I've always had it in a darkish corner of a room and so never appreciated how "vibrant" it is. Goes to show what I know!!!

Anyhow, I said I'd add some better lit photos and so here's a few... Would still be interested to hear if anyone knows a rough value.

    Many thanks

Three recently sold on eBay, all from Germany - one solid blue for $110 plus shipping, another, also blue with fat lava, sold for an offer under $97.72 plus high shipping, the third, sold with two other pieces, sold for an offer under $208.22. Your color is nice, but the glaze crazing should be disclosed to a potential buyer...

Thanks Cheryl. A future question was going to be about the glaze crazing. To be perfectly honest I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be / designed like that or not! Obviously not then... Is that a common occurrence with such pieces? Does it severely reduce value?
