I've sold them in the past, a lady ephemera collector visits me about every 4 months, and she buys lots of documents from me, passports, birth certificates, death certificates, letters, bills, receipts.

Maybe his way of trying to grasp the how and why. Which you can't understand anyway, if you don't have the same way of thinking.
Conversion didn't help. The Nazis also went after secular Jews.:(

That is possible, although their ID cards would have had to have a J on them, except if they could prove that they had a certain percentage of "Aryan" blood. (Which most Germans didn't have anyway, because Aryans are from Iran, not Germany.)

IIRC, Jewish heritage passes through the matriarchal line? Possibly why he had kept his female relative's passports? Dunno -- intriguing to guess. But something went awry in that poor fellow's life.

That depends on how many generations back somebody converted. If great-great Grandpa was born Jewish but nobody else was, you were safer.

It started going awry when he started producing and using this.

This appears to be the Skunk version, he then progressed into producing resin.
I found all his equipment in the attic with all the chemistry items, glass tubes clamps etc.

Everyone I know that has used this crap suffered mental health problems, depression and suicidal thoughts.
    Plus it stinks.

Self-medication. It's what you do when you don't trust regular medicine, or are too mentally altered to think of alternatives. Not my idea of a good time, but then I"m more of an espresso kinda gal.

I retrieved an SD card from his camera, all pictures were of him posed in his living room it was clean and tidy, they are dated 2011 and 2019
He must have gone off the rails after 2019

The photos above were actual photos in a folder so pre digital camera days around 2004.
There are scales and balances all over the place so yes was probably dealing.
Neighbours said the police were always there so they probably shut his den down.

Im reading that scientists seem to be finding evidence of cardiovascular and reproductive problems ie smaller babies, linked to regular weed use. My 56 yr old half brother has just stopped smoking it due to a heart attack, he’s had a stent put in, he was lucky to survive.

He was a math professor. Given his smarts it crossed into science, since they are closely related. I wonder if he was lacing it & was hooked on his own products self medicating as he didn’t recognize either a mental health or physical health issue. Not uncommon to self medicate, especially during COVID with isolation which induced plenty of people into mental crisis, who were not aware of what was happening. I am still intrigued by his nazi behavior I wonder when that started.

That has been a known fact low birth weight babies from smoke inhalation of frequent users, which causes lung/heart issues at any given time. I am glad he is ok, stents are life savers. Stents are also used in other organs. I have them in my eyes I have early onset glaucoma.

I told you he had an unhealthy interest of AH.

Along with two books from the "Monumenta Judaica" exhibition:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monumenta_Judaica

And Die Gedanken sind Frei (Thoughts are Free), Auschwitz, Die Verratenen Söhne (a novel about how senseless war is) etc.
One of the authors of "Berlin's Stunde Null" (about the fall of Berlin), Rolf Italiaander, was of Dutch Jewish origin. He was also Pan-European and a gay activist. Very non-Nazi.;)

I think your guy was trying to understand the war, as I thought before.

Yes, I see your point, Davey. He was dealing. Here in BC you can have 4 marijuana plants for personal use. When I was working, younger teachers told me that they would opt for smoking a little weed to relax rather than drink alcohol. There is the assumption that weed isn't as harmful in some ways than alcohol. Things I know: long-time users lose motivation -- they exist in a semi-permanent brain fog, and yes, you can be addicted (I know of 2 in my family circle who are). My daughter, a psychiatric nurse tells me that they have young men come in who suffer psychotic episodes and they don't have to be chronic users. Some cases never fully recover. Weed is not harmless.

The modern version sure isn't! They've bred it for more and more THC and too much THC causes all kinds of nastiness.

Nazi stuff used to be collected more than it is now. The late Lemmy Kilmister (SP) was a big collector. He was the furthest thing from a Nazi, just interested in their technological toys and in what made them tick.

Found these watercolors last weekend at the vintage show, $5:

And found this pipe at the same show, in a box with other various tobacco pipes. I'm hoping it's pre-1973, and would prefer it's pre-1950 or even earlier:
