I bought 50 original photos at an estate sale for 25 cents each. Most are 8"x10". All are in and around Portland, Oregon. Some are dated 1976.

The estate being sold belonged to an amateur photographer and history buff. I think he seems like he had a good eye.

    Just sharing for fun!

How much of it is still there?

Wherever you're living now, take pictures of it. If you have favorite places take pictures of them. It all changes over time.

Many of the bridges are the same. The street-ripped up photos (and a couple other related ones that were in the group) are now the various transit lines: light rail, buses, and a street car system.

Some of the photos are labeled on the back. One is of an open-air food market and on the back it says, "Portland Mall at SW 5th & Yamhill with the last of the open markets in the background. Now long gone.

These flute-lovin' hippies are long gone:

The west-side approach to the Steel Bridge still looks about the same. This musta been the construction project that made it as it is today:

And these guys--can't read their common shirts / hats--maybe railroad workers?--- are long gone too.

Those aren't railroad hats. Construction company maybe.

That last picture might be on a boat.

That background is the east side of the Columbia River Gorge. Weird but true: just 2 hours E from the rainforest of western Oregon is the desert. It's a 'rain shadow.'

There was another photo of a paddle wheel boat.

You wouldn't think it from the composition of the photos, better than many professionals.
But then amateurs often are better.

I wonder if that image of the band could be Jethro Tull? Probably not but might be worth looking into.
