Trying to learn about these chairs

I picked up these chairs yesterday. Very sturdy but also not sure of age. Look like an English made. The only markings is a letter S on the bottom.

Could you include a photo of the mark and maybe an underside of the chair? It may help someone recognize it.

 

That’s the only ones I could find. I love the chairs and the color. I am not a collector. I have 4 chairs that are all in excellent condition. I wonder how I could get them appraised? I wouldn’t know where to begin for something like this? Any ideas?

 

This is the marking. It’s on all the chairs.

One way of getting a sense of value is internet listings for sold similars. Lots of variables, however, that impact desirability. For instance, here's one from eBay. U.S. market, a bit fancier, rocker with arms, not part of a set but similar quality and condition. Realized $35.00.

Thanks for the information. About the only thing I see in common is maybe the seat.
Obviously someone got a great deal.
Of course I definitely know they are worth a lot more than $35 each.

 

They're worth what someone is willing to pay for them. These are closer to yours. A set, located in England. Realized £87.50 each with delivery not included.

I would have thought that the cost of an appraisal would surpass the value of the chairs.

I doubt they'd bring much more than that in my Midwest USA suburban area.
Good quality vintage oak dining chairs pop up with some frequency here.
Hopefully, it's different wherever in the world you live.
