Featured Russian numbered plate

Hi, I have a plate that is numbered 245. It reads J.H.V. Made in Russia by Kermi Low Bros. Both the rim and inside are gilded. Would anybody know the value of this plate? Thank you in advance!

 

It's spelled Kornilow and Kornilov. Here is a plate listed for auction. That sold for $540

Pretty sure your plate is a re-making of an original and more than likely from the 1990's.

Don't spend too much on it!

I already own it. Too bad, that’s a disappointment. My husband received it as a gift from a couple who collected and decorated their apt with antiques. They gifted him another plate which I’d like to post as well. Both were from their collection. We didn’t have room at the time to accept any of the other offerings.

 

Not necessarily worth a kings ransom perhaps, but still a rare and beautiful plate!

I’m sorry, I’m a quick learn! I understand that it’s a remake of the original. Does that mean that the 245 is # 245 of the remake or just a random number placed? Also, did the company remake it or would it be made by someone else? Thank you, once these questions are answered I will be up to speed!

They show this one as pattern 245, and the edge design/detail certainly looks similar to yours:

On this Google link, there is a photo from an old ebay auction that is the same pattern as your plate. Unfortunately, when you click the link the photographs are gone but the cup and saucer sold for $661. That's the ebay Europe.

AFAIK the early (Imperial) porcelains were never marked this way, i.e. in English ...

The factory was re-started (at least reverted to the original name) in the Gorbachev era and went out of business in the early 2000's.

I could be wrong but that's what I understand - the pre-revolution era pieces are the valuable ones. In my opinion, this plate is from the later production years.

Blooey, I'm not at all familiar with this particular make of porcelain, but here's what I read on the site I linked to above. (Highlighting is mine...):

Kornilow (Kornilov) Brothers (Bros.) produced dinner, tea sets and other service wear in Russian folk style also referred to as Pan-Slavik style
in late 19th and early 20th century St Petersburg, Russia.

The majority of production was for export to North America where the company struck distribution agreements with leading retailers such as
Tiffany in New York, Bailey Banks & Biddle Co in Philadelphia, Shreve & Company in San Francisco, Jaccard Jewelry Co in Kansas City.

 

Thank you blooey. Since they don't show the marks from the perestroika years and we don't know exactly how they marked it for export, I think it would be a good idea for Penny to ask for an appraisal on that link and see what they say.

I wholeheartedly agree, MCT ..get an appraisal from an expert in the stuff. - I may be totally off on the marking, maybe it is marked like that, without the imperial warrant an' all ...

I'm just skeptical because of all that super high quality re-made Faberge stuff that started showing up in the early 90's ..it was "kind of real" too!

 

Komo, they might not have used that for exports. It will be interesting to see what they tell her.
