Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum, and in search of information on these Murano glass clowns, that is part of a collection of 17 that I inherited recently. I've researched on the InterWeb, and learned that the artist's infused 925 slilver leaf and 24 carrot gold leaf into the glass. And of course I can not find even one image of either.

So, what do you think? Is this silver leaf in these 3 clowns?
And if so, would you know if there's a premium as far as value?

    Thanks for your time! IMG_0573.jpg

The inclusions are called aventurine. You might try researching with that term included.

Welcome to the forum. Agree with ascot, the inclusions are called aventurine. Usually with Murano, aventurine can add a small premium to pieces. Maybe 10-20% more.

Unfortunately Murano clowns had more of a following decades ago. (Maybe when this collection was formed.) For current values, go on Ebay and look under "Murano Clown" in the SOLD category. I just took a quick look. There are 2,100 unsold Murano clowns currently for sale on Ebay US, 300 under SOLD, and most of those SOLD seemed to be in the $25-60 range (with a few exceptions).

Your photo just shows them from the back. Some are done slightly better than others so can't tell from your photo, but prices are down in general.

Rather than avventurina, these pieces have foglia d'argento, silver foil inclusions - the technique, as suggested, done using both silver and gold leaf...

What she said. They do sell, but not for nearly what they used to.

Thank you all for the information. This collection was bought for my grandmother between the late 60's and early 70's by my mother and myself as Christmas presents. Can aventurine also be glittery. Have a few that looks like gold glitter but is a little redder then gold.

Just in case, the "gold" glitter is actually copper flecks. They've been making glass with it since the 19th century. It keeps selling so they keep making it.
