The table and chair set I posted on 9/18 is still available, down to half price and still no taker.

Found this L & J G Stickley rocker yesterday for $13.50. apparently fairly rare, as I can not find another with the bottom slats like this. Any help finding a model number?

Chair has been reglued and had some screws replaced with modern ones. Of course refinished and reupholstered. Original cushion and springs under the new upholstery. Plan to try and darken the finish a bit before selling. Not sure if I will try to get some better upholstery or not. Think it is a poor choice as is but it is in good condition.

On the one hand, a crying shame it's been messed with. On the other, without the help it would probably be landfill. Dirt cheap at the price of course.

I think it looks lovely anyway. I would leave the upholstery if it's in decent condition. No need to put more money into it when you don't know what the new owner might like.

Rockers are hard to sell right? So I doubt anyone gave it a once over.

Weird that it has no arm rests.... Not super comfortable to sit in a rocker and hafta hold your arms somehow.

Suitable for rocking a baby, when armrests would just get in the way. Lots of small rockers had no armrests at the time.

Generally called a nursing or sewing rocker. Having no arms frees a person's arm movement. Also favored by musicians. Not generally sought after these days. Even less favored than regular rockers.

    Makes sense!

I foresee neither pregnancy nor musicianship in my future, but you never know! ;)

Have not been seeing too much worth posting out there of late. There has been the run-of-the-mill damaged furniture at cheap prices but few real bargains. Only thing even remotely tempting was an Eastlake washstand that was pretty beat up and missing some hardware for $18.00. It was certainly salvageable but I don't need another project. There was an, otherwise, nice solid walnut late classical dresser that was missing one of its front pilllars. How does that even happen?

The exception was this set of 6 nice chairs in good condition for $30.00 (for all). As cheap as they were, they did take more than a week to sell.

How much did you get for the set? I always find that chairs like this sell really well (and wonder if it's because I'm underpricing them??)

I only bought a greeting card today because it was in the Free basket.:hurting:

I did however seen a burnt orange wool and oak mid-mod sectional sell at the ReStore. They had it up for $200, and there was a Fort Worth TX manufacturer's label. Somebody scored.

I didn't buy them. Not much demand and I didn't want to mess with them. Others must have felt the same, seeing how long they took to sell at the thrift store.

Probably easier to sell with a complimenting table, and a huge annoyance to store otherwise. There's a dealer here who has an entire upstairs of his warehouse with just chairs stacked to the ceiling and hanging from the rafters. :nailbiting:
