I kinda like this painting. Lazy summer vibe. Rowboat, sailboat and big mechanized ship all included.... maybe some commentary by that?

    It's apprx 12" x 16" (15." X 19.5" framed) and is unsigned.

    Do you think it's old?

What do you think of it?

Thanks for all comments in advance.

not sure thats a ship in the foreground as it seems to level off at the peer, and would expect to see more of the ship underneath. maybe just part of the peer.
the steps at the end doesn't look right for a ship either

The ship is out on the horizon, center of pic #2; rowboat in foreground, and what I think is a white sailboat with furled sails, left middle ground in pic #2.

It could be a very talented amateur but I tend to think slightly better than that. Its a very attractive well done piece .The canvas looks like it has some age.

Like it. Have you checked for a signature under the frame?

Not yet... I tried to shine a light into the crevice between canvas and frame, to see if there were staples etc, but didn't see anything yet.

Like how the painting is flat except for the foreground where the artist used the impasto technique. Creates depth. Does the landscape look the part of the world where you found the work?

No. This looks Gulf Coast to me (a guess). Could also be a Great Lakes scene, or perhaps not American.

(Any wood structures built into the ocean here would be destroyed in about a minute. ;))

At a glance, I thought it would be a great lake.
