    hi folks

something i picked up today at local auction.
    https://www.easyliveauction.com/cat...8a6646f/homewares-and-interiors-sale-lot-780/

the watercolour is big enough as it as and the frame makes is massive

was disappointing with it to be honest, but still happy for what i paid

the basket and the feet i think are done particularly well

i've opened it up but unfortunately, no marks/signatures, nothing

haven't a clue on age or origin

relying on light from the t.v, but you get the idea

    any thoughts info appreciated

The head's a bit too small for the body. Do you think she was meant to be Irish?

perhaps thats whats wrong with the head, also the shawl hanging makes it look a bit off as well

couldn't even guess on where she is from

Well, either there or one of the Scottish islands. That buttress is fairly unusual, I'd think. Can find it in Ireland. Dunno about Scotland. But her basket appears to be filled with barley or wheat. That would more likely be Scotland.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

@charlie cheswick, I copied, then cropped & sharpened, in particular the image of her feet........LOOK 'ankle high' between her two bare feet....that sure looks like a signature to me........IMHO!!!! ALSO could be a faint date just below that 'signature'!!

Also saw some VERY FAINT what looked like numbers and possibly a bit
of writing.......in the lower left corner, but it's NOT very legible at all and not really sure what's there........below:

That’s well spotted. That does look like a signature between the feet. But I don’t see the possible numbers at all.

Are you sure that's a watercolor and not a print?

there was no way i could sell her in the frame she was in because the postage costs would be too high, so.......................she's had a trim :nailbiting:

i actually much prefer it like this without all that sparse background

    colour1.jpg colour2.jpg colour4.jpg colour8.jpg colour3.jpg

added a bit of gilding to the frame (picture taken in dark much Later with flash)
