Total mystery root

    I found this mystery root in my parents' garage. It's been there for a while. The finish looks like shoe polish or black wax over a dark wood. The face looks vaguely East Asian.

    I have no clue where it it from, but I like it.

    I think that's it. My parents lived in Japan in the 1970s. (Yes, they traveled a LOT and lived in a lot of places.)

    Sort of like a scholar's stone, except an interesting root.
