Another estate sale find. Unfortunately, this image was in a box of broken glass and frames. It has minor damage to what otherwise would be an amazing piece of art. It is on the most delicate paper in a folder and covered by an acetate panel. Any expertise here for this sort of thing? Compress_20241113_073608_8915.jpg Compress_20241113_073609_9538~2.jpg

Are you sure that this lithograph hasn’t simply been removed from the Adolphe Jullien book on the works of Hector Berlioz? If that’s the case even in mint condition it would have very little value.

it is an original lithograph, the paper is extremely delicate, cream in color and looks almost hand made. definitely not from a book.

I’m sure you’re right but it would be worth checking in one of the catalogue raisonne references that there was an official printing, probably proofs, that weren’t signed. That would add to the provenance. Otherwise low level collectors like me would assume this lithograph was taken from one of the many published volumes.

Not necessarily. Many books mounted art to a studier page in the book. Sometimes that glue gives way, or they're only flap mounted or corner mounted and easy to remove. So there are prints on lighter paper from books.

If you look at the examples that Brad and Debora posted, expand them and look at the edges, you can see the layout lines. I do not see them on the users artwork. Considering that the museum examples have provenance and the users print is missing these lines, it leads me to believe that it is something other than the original lithograph.
