I have been given first dibs on a box of bits being thrown out by a family member. They used to belong to my aunty who passed away a few years ago. They were rescued by my brother and now my sister in law is clearing them out of the old house.

This particular piece comes up as royal Worcester on Google images, but no back stamp. Why would it be left blank? Inferior copy or maybe factory seconds?

Royal Worcester, as far as I know, wouldn't leave the base unglazed like that. But I don't know much.

Ive never heard of Royal Worcester not marking their items. It could very well be a copy by some other company. Its very charming.

If you can find others of these online, check and compare details: face, hands, ect.

I stand corrected. Royal Worcester often didnt mark earlier pieces. Who knew ?

It’s not Worcester quality and it’s not fine enough bone china either. I think a copy of a similar age.

Personally I think it is correct for RW. She is missing her whistle or flute.

The marked examples I have seen online also have unglazed bases. I'm not expert though

I'm starting to think it could be a copy. The quality of the decor isn't there but the piece is very similar right down to the profile of it on the underside? Maybe molded and reproduced from an original RW piece?

That would be very nice and dream worthy.

She is. Not sure if it would be porcelain of some other material. Doesnt look like it was fixed as no signs of breakage. She has a hole in her gob so it looks like it just slotted in.

Another possibility: it didn't match quality standards, or was a practice piece, therefore unmarked and fluteless! Someone took it home with them from the factory. ;)
