Featured Staffordshire collection acquired

Just picked this up tonight
1790 to 1860. This was the one and only photo provided. All supposedly from the Woods family.
What are your thoughts

 

hard to tell from just one pic and without seeing the bases, but think they look good from here and most early pearlware ones as well, which are more fine and detailed

 

It is a lovely collection. I especially like the Madonna and child.

Looks like you got a nice collection, which alas isn't worth what it was.

 

Nothing is as it ever was.

 

Sometimes you get lucky and find a whoopsie. These days alas, I find Avon bottles. (and leave them.)

 

i would't 'Alas' much with most of these , some of the earliest examples i've seen, some absolute beauties

I know right. It appears she was made that way?

 

i thought it was damage at first, but its original as has the blue tinge tin glaze and original paint over the top, also has a solid flat 'stump'

 

I confess the one with the flat matte glaze gives me pause. It looks almost like it was repainted ? Im no expert but I think there are some real rarities in there. Well done you .

 

I thought it was broke at first then I noticed the paint. Might have been touched up to deceive or could be original. Only way to find out is find the same one online.

It's only one of them though. Nice collection.

Edit. It has glaze with crazing over the stump so looks like she was meant to be missing her limb.

This was part of an 80 piece collection. The collection was divided between siblings. I have some paperwork for some of them. The majority was purchased in the early 70s. A $200 price tag then is about $1500 today. They are not without some faults and repairs done some time ago.

 

If you got them for cheapish relative to their value then you did fantastic. Amazing collection! They look good overall to me. I do great selling these. I got about 20 sheep plus a bunch of other stuff for around $100 bucks once. I was over the moon. End of an estate sale. The sale runner apparently didn’t realize what they were. The sheep can generally bring $75-$200 or so each. This stuff still does we on eBay in my experience. Maybe not what it brought at one time but if you buy well the market is still there.
