We are getting ready for our first ever onsite warehouse sale! We have the contents of a $16 million dollar estate in freight containers from a large bank. It will likely take 3 sales to get rid of everything. The individual was a corporate lawyer for Pepsi - then went to Coke. Lived all over Asia; Japan, Indonesia, China, etc. I came across these pieces of Japanese ware and they have a majolica feel to them which seemed strange. I wasn't sure if these were Mingei Mashiko ware and if so, does anyone know the potter/artist? Thank for looking. Obviously hand made. I cant say Ive ever seen the like. I get an aged feeling but its hard to tell with Oriental stuff as they made it the same way for centuries.

When the time comes, post the link in the For Sale area. You KNOW some of this lot will want to show up if they can.

This dish looks very similar, but I am not willing to follow the link to a Thai selling site called Shopee -

Can you please post a view of the inside of the bowl (back right corner on the shelf)? It might be more diagnostic for a google lens search. It looks similar to Japanese Inuyama ware.

I'm not sure where that came from.

Given the context (large wealthy estate) I would be surprised if these were just ordinary.
Agreed...there's a good story here, if we can get to it. Thanks!

It means old and it sure wants to be Chinese. I'm not expert enough to know if it couldn't also be Vietnamese or Japanese or Korean. All three copied some Chinese styles for a while. The Korean items can be really valuable, but I'm not good enough to know which is whose.

They clearly lived in Asia, and loved it. A mix of old and new, souvenirs and genuine 'stuff', and certainly some interesting items.
Most of those Burmese lacquer boxes look antique, amazing to see so many. Those would be of interest to collectors.
The Thai wooden betel container is nice for collectors as well, both of betel paraphernalia and of Thai folk art.
