Featured Blue opaline glass ring

Hi folks

something i bought ages ago and only just come across in a jar full of stuff

odd/confusing one really as it looks quite old and hand made

but presuming costume as no marks and i can see copper tones coming through on the back of the bezel

quite rough in areas

presuming glass, but a lovely colour

any ideas on age etc

any thoughts or info appreciated

 

Maybe Roman glass? There is a lot of present day jewellery made with Roman glass. Agree, the colour is very nice.

I think Roman glass is a very good call. The setting isn’t modern, either. Nice thing that.

the striations on the outer shank are interesting, don't know if thats intentional or not

 

No idea on the glass, we don't get Roman bits here, but I agree on the old setting. Probably gold setting.

 

Yup, I’d think gold. That needs looking at by a museum or whatever. Some Georgian jewellery used Roman glass and there’s mediaeval pieces too.

A superb ring, I love the colour, it's a warm blue, not the usual cool toned blues I usually see in rings (besides turquoise and dyed howlite).
