Found this 6" urn recently and can't pinpoint what type of glass it is,any guesses ? It's got a very, very slight gold iridescence to it,but i wouldn't call it carnival glass.
    Maybe it's slag-any help appreciated.
    No manufacturer stamp,just mold marks-thanks.

It doesn't look like slag glass to me. Maybe it's just the pictures, but it looks to have "texture" to it like somebody took an iridescent piece of glass and painted it to look like slag glass. I may be totally off base here, but that is just what it looks like to me.

I thought it was iridescent milk glass w/ a marbleized glaze fired on (?).I'll prob dig out my #11 xacto knife and (much as i hate scraping anything-esp gold/silver), think i can do it discreetly.
...a curious piece of glass-fun research specimen.

It reminds me sorta of Blue John stone. Maybe someone tried to make a copy .

I'm with bdigger, it looks like someone painted it, But owned is seldom wrong about english glass, so slag it must be. Not my cuppa, it's on the ugly side (IMO). But that said, it's likely very popular and brings much money.

NE English Slag looks good, maybe w/ a touch of lustre on it ? For 2 bucks it was a fun conversation piece, plus that iridescence had me puzzled (but a 'glassie' i def aint).
Speaking of iridescence- look at this Wedgwood Fairyland Lustre Vase, this stuffs spectacular.Don't see it much in the States.

Fairyland lustre is astonishing. She destroyed her designs and smashed the pieces.

Never have I ever seen a slag glass that was so translucent, unless it's Davidson cloud glass, which tends to have a more fluid flow.

Not quite right, but looks like the maker was trying to emulate it.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I don't know whether people outside the US can view this, but just last night I saw a repeat of one of the older US Antiques Roadshows with an appraisal of a group of fairyland lustre items. This was on a show that originally aired in 2005, and then appraised value was updated in 2019. Nick Dawes, the appraiser, is British but now lives in the US.
