I picked this up today. A green bubble glass chamber pot. I have found a couple of similar items online and they are described as 'Victorian'. Looking at the wear on the search results and on mine I don't think they are so old. There is virtually no wear on the base. Some suggestions that they are sklo bohemian. 23cm diameter at the event horizon.

I'm more apt to say Skol 50's, 60's. Sometimes even auctioneers make mistakes. That's why my middle-class self is in possession of a few pretty sweet pieces!

Is there such a thing as a clear chamber pot?

    Hahahahaaaaaaa omg.

And here I was thinking gosh I hope someone listed this as a pitcher, but that's even better.

Regardless, that's a really fancy nightsoil container for sure.

Just when you think you've seen it all. If that is a chamber pot,it was for a toddler. I think it is a waste pot,but more for dirty shaving water and the like. Or a spittoon ?

    Arg!

This is categorically and absolutely not Whitefriars. They never did this lens cut bobble style and never made gazunders. Honestly, some auctioneers….!

I’ve had a couple of these before, mine were blue. In the end, they were identified as being made in Empoli. They’re quite common here.

And why would anyone want one? I came up with the idea of a transparent toilet during a drunken brain storm 29 years ago. Little did I realise ..

I have never ever seen a glass chamber pot

rather dangerous if it breaks under one fainting.gif

I thought possible it may ( very large may ) fit into a wooden shelf for safety...

the handle would be fun to grab carton rouge.gif
