    Hey folks!

I am starting to get into the art world now too. :p I knew this was eventually going to happen.
I stumbled upon one painting on local auction site that I for some reason very like. I tried searching for the artist, but couldn't find anything at all.
Anyone recognize the signature or the artist? There is a name on the back as well, but no luck with that name either. It might just be some hobby artist painting, but it's lovely :)
Pictures are not mine, 'stole' them from the auction site.

    Thanks in advance!

I don't think this painting dates to the 15th century, as it looks. Advanced painters still perfecting the art often copied, maybe still do copy, work by painters recognized as masters. This could be from the 19th century. Those initials look very sporty.

The back of the canvas looks very clean and the back of the frame wood looks clean too with modern staples. The front of the frame looks artificially aged too.

First name on the back seems to be Janine. Can't read the second part.

I would think that's a recent-ish copy of something. What did the auction house say about it? And, obviously, they couldn't identify the artist either or the painting would have been attributed to him/her at the sale. I'd assume the name on the back is that of the artist as it matches the initials (J.J.) on the back. I read Janine Juquet.

Ditto. She also took care not to make the painting look 15th century, even though the subject seems to be inspired by the Italian Renaissance.
She reminds me of the 15th century "Portrait of a Young Lady" by Piero del Pollaiolo.

This is the portrait I meant, she dates from ca 1470:
