Mouring Brooch

She a beautyful girl her photo is amazing and she also has her hair woven in the back I found her in a second handshop in australia. Am just wondering if anyone has one or has seen another mourning brooch like her before Thank you

      Probably a portrait brooch but not mourning jewelry. Real mourning jewelry has a dark matte finish, while this has a bright brassy finish, possibly real gold. Portrait jewelry was very popular through the 1970s and I have a growing collection of it in every medium from carnelian silhouettes of the early 1800s to celluloid rings with photos of deployed soldiers.

      Mourning jewelry can also be braided from the hair of the deceased or contain hair of the deceased. Unfortunately, I have a growing collection of hair of dead people, too.

      @FekNeim in australia it was sold to me as a mouring brooch made about 1800's I love more there hard to find here I found her in a second hand shop
