19th Century Scottish School

Can anyone help me identify the decade this portrait dates from based on her clothing and anything about her status? She is an ancestor but nothing more than that is known as my great grand mother never informed us anything more. Thanks in advance

      It's really hard to see what she's wearing. Mop cap but other than that... Where does the waist line of her gown sit? Are those voluminous sleeves or a shawl over her shoulders?

      Once again: you should go to the Forums section where there is a board specifically for asking questions about art. A lot of members don't even look at these Gallery pictures. You will get a better response in the Forums section. I think it's an interesting painting.

      You should provide more information (and better pictures if you can). How big is it? Is it painted on canvas?

      You might mention whether you own this, or are thinking of buying it. Are you looking at it in terms of reselling it?
