IMG_7365.jpeg IMG_7366.jpeg Got these three little stoneware inkpots for about $2 (I know not very exciting and there’s loads on the market) All Victorian. Just for interest sake is the dark brown one perhaps slightly older? (I know is doesn’t matter I was really just wondering) Thanks

I'd call them inkwells, but..yup. Same thing. They look like the standard ones everyone used. The largest one looks oldest to me too.

They’re ink bottles rather than wells. The ink was sold in them with a cork stopper and wax seal. They look mid nineteenth onwards.

Most welcome. I’ve several Doulton ones, including huge shop bottles which were decanted into little ones.

I watch some little videos on FB of a mudlarker (people who comb the Thames foreshores for items) and she has unearthed a few of the ink bottles of the light brown kind. I wonder if one of yours was mudlarked!
