Louis Philippe mark

    I bought this the other day. I searched the mark with google lens and got all excited. A rush if blood to extremities. Now on reflection I think perhaps it's a copy and a bad one too. Not even sure whether to waste any time listing it or if I should just donate it back.

    I've seen that mark used on plates and such for Officers for King Louis Philippe for Chateau d'Eu. They were made by Sevres. The mark was placed on the front center of the plate or bowl. However, your mark looks a bit odd. The outer edges are not as defined as the mark seen below. I can be 100% wrong (I'm usually 85-93% wrong) but it doesn't look right, to me.

    Yes that's the mark that got me all excited. If you look at the reverse of those plates there are some other sevres marks which suggest that mine is bogus. It is over the glaze which Also sets alarm bells off

    I don't know much about French porcelain, but this one doesn't look genuine and the mark looks suspect. Here's another mark: [​IMG]
