I would have to put a picture of Moe from the three stooges in that frame. I would crack up every time I saw it. It is gorgeous!

I went to a semi-annual outdoor antique show and a semi-annual Historical Society flea market Sunday. The "beads" shown were a dollar each.
    Lee Sands first
    Lee Sands amethyst (576x640).jpg
    Lee Sands paua shell (442x640).jpg
two onyx and two rose quartz necklaces
    Beads 2 $1 (640x570).jpg
Five freshwater pearl necklaces, three of them button pearls, very long knotted strands
    Beads 3 $1 (640x608).jpg

More $1 beads, mixed stone necklace and potato pearls
    Beads $1 1 (640x593).jpg
Mixed items, the vintage magnifier locket was $5, the GF charm bracelet, the faux rock crystal necklace and GF lockets were $2 each, as was the big magnifier that will go on a chain. The $1 beads here are elephant ivory, restrung.
    Beads 4 $1 (640x598).jpg
These sterling turquoise earrings were a dollar at the flea market.
    Turquoise Colorado (581x640).jpg
The cameo was not a bargain, but I liked her. GF pendant/brooch combo.
    Cameo PRT co. (501x640).jpg

Jackpot! The one onyx necklace looks like it has tiny 14k spacers; I take those necklaces apart and melt the spacers and reuse the beads. The rose quartz with the pendant looks Chinese; the peaches are a good luck symbol or something.

Two items bought on spec in wild hope from eBay. Both with poor photos and little information. I thought I could see a mark on both and were only a few £.
    Some you lose...........
The mark turned out to say M&S but it's unusually nice quality and actually a very sweet tennis bracelet so probably worth every penny I paid for it.

    And some you win........
The faint mark was a 375 and it turned out to have a full hallmark for Henry Griffiths and son on the pendant and a full hallmark on the chain. Lovely big amethyst, hopefully not glass.

The bracelet is really pretty. The necklace... that red background is messing me up. It's making the stone look redder than it probably is.

I often think I’ve found a good piece of jewellery in the Charity shop and I confess I am disappointed to discover it’s M&S and not something gold or silver. Hope you don’t find any bubbles in the purple stone.

Guess you didn't know that quartz can have bubbles in it.

I'm not sure it's an amethyst. It's a real stone, odds on, but there are other purple ones.

That could be a spinel. If it is, you really scored; I'd get that checked just in case.

Actually this M&S one is slightly confusing me as I've never seen them use that slightly dated slide pressure clasp with the folded metal, normally they are the double link fold over ones. To the point where I was wondering if there was another designer using M&S letters but I don't think there is.

Any home checks or do I need a pro. I'll do a photo with light shining through- what am I looking for?

Edit- so I checked it with my cheapy diamond tester and it flashed onto the red straight away so whatever it is has similar properties to a diamond. I only ever use it as a general guideline as to if something needs more investigation. I think I may trot into the jewellers in town for their view.
