I would like to know more regarding this piece please, material and decade?

Hi, I have here a pot of some sort, it has engraved into it lion chasing a deer on the both the lid and the pot itself, I would like to know anything about this if I could if there is anything to know that is, thank you, I picked this up from a car boot as it looked interesting,

Possibly Chinese soapstone carved by automatic machine. Try scratching the bottom with your fingernail.

It didn’t do anything, it almost feels similar to granite, quite a hard texture, I just can’t get my head around what it could be

 

It just about fits in the palm of my hand, so it isn’t large but not tiny & yes, the wrong side of the pond some may say
