The Archaeological Society of VA is having their annual meeting this weekend so it might be awhile before anyone gets back to you.

Some other places you might ask in that area, The Frontier Museum in Staunton or Monticello or Montpelier which both have archaeology. Carole Nash at James Madison in Harrisonburg is another possibility but she's probably at the meeting too.

There are several recognized Indian Tribes in Virginia still but no idea if this is Indian related or not.

That said, there are also lots of people making things, boy scout projects etc.

 

It might also be a perfect opportunity to get lots of knowledgeable eyes on this object. The meeting is being held in Williamsburg through the 6th, at the Fort Magruder Hotel and Conference Center.

@Rob Langdon - I know things are difficult in your area at this time. Any chance of a trip to Williamsburg?

 

I will not be able to make it there this weekend, unfortunately, but have reached out to a few people who might be able to help. I probably won't hear anything until next week though.

It's been a few years since I went to an annual meeting but I think you probably need to be a member to attend.

I don't recall there being an opportunity to have things evaluated in sessions in the past few I went to so setting up a meeting with someone or just sending photos might be easier.
