Featured Murano Vase

    I found this super 24cm tall vase at auction this week. I have hopes that it is a Venetian 'Inghistera' vase by Salviati and Co, circa 1880. The Facebook Murano group liked it and said that the slightly rough pontil mark was right for the maker and period.

    I’d be interested to know if any of our glass experts differ. Even if it’s not the real thing, it’s a lovely piece.

    Are you on Murano Glass Collective? They'd be definitive on it. Nice thing.

    Lovely Vase! According to my Fenton books, Bill Fenton took a trip tto Italy and brought back from Venice this type of vase which was the inspiration for the Fenton Vasa Murrhina line. Your vase reminds me a lot of the Fenton version in the rose color. Fenton didn't do any rigaree on theirs. You can search for them if you want to see some. They're readily available due to their popularity. I've always admired them.
