I'm sorry, I know this is not antique or even vintage but I am coming up empty. This necklace is about 20" long end to end and weighs 2.6 ounces. The bib section is 2 layers of ball chains woven/knitted/crocheted or just randomly looped together...I can't really tell. All parts test positive for sterling silver. All of the links in the double chain are soldered closed. I am hoping someone may be familiar with the initials on the hang tag...NW...or come across something similar. I have checked all the usual sites trying to identify the maker. Thanks for any input!!!

Neither antique nor vintage to my eye.

Yes, I did state that already right up front. I was just hoping to get some eyes on it. There is such a vast base of experience and knowledge to be found here; maybe someone can point me in the proper direction?

I found a jump ring on the back that 3 chains loop through. Then the 2 jump rings that attach the whole shebang to the chains. It is a puzzling piece for sure.

It may be an artisan/crafter piece, those hangtags can be ordered stamped with initials or blank and you can stamp them yourself. It's the type of jewelry you may expect to find at juried craft shows.

Yes, I suspect that is probably the case and will not be able to find the artisan.

I zoomed in on the tag. Sorry I can't help but thought the larger image might spark someone's memory.

    Have you checked Nine West?

I like that thought but given that it is sterling silver probably not? My favorite pair of black pumps were Nine West though!!! I think I went through at least 2 pair of those (many moons ago).
