I had a look at the Hebrew alphabet. Looks to have some age. Is it purely a decorative piece of something more? Drip glazed? It’s heavy well over 10kg. Stands about 42cm tall and 22cm wide a the base. Thank you for any comments

It's not any Hebrew script I'm familiar with.

Part of a sale to clear out a section of a warehouse in an industrial area near Cape Town. It’s part of the stock from a vintage/antique shop. I understand most of the stock were bought on various auctions. But the owner also bought at house clearance sales. Apparently there’s another warehouse somewhere with more items.

I looked at old south Afrikan writing and saw no similarities.:(:(

Appreciate the effort. But it’s definitely not writing/symbols I ever remember seeing in this country.

It’s any interesting pot and it looks to have some age. But maybe the ‘writing’ or symbols are just made-up for decoration

Any further thoughts or comments on this. Do we think it has some good age or not? Thanks

The glaze looks older, but the bottom doesn't. If it was decades old I'd expect more wear on the bottom.

The offset handles, one higher than the other, makes it seem utilitarian, perhaps for storing / pouring a liquid. But that it's unglazed on the inside seems to rule that out, so I'm gonna say it's an art piece.

Thanks so much for your opinion and interesting comments. I also didn’t know what to think of the offset handles. Then there’s your glaze and wear comments (happy to be learning) So maybe an interesting art piece (that makes sense, would have been really great if it was signed) Personally ‘just standing there’ it looks and also feels older to me.. Anyway an interesting display piece..

I do not recognize this as a specific script. I suspect this to mimic an ancient script and this is quite modern studio pottery (but I am not an expert at all).
