I have two large urns (24" tall) with the Augustus Rex maker mark on the bottom. How do I know whether it was decorated by Helena Wolfsohn or if it is an earlier piece?

Meissen used a mark like that VERY early on. I don't know enough to know who made the urns though.

https://www.anticstore.art/107211P This says Samson et Cie (Samson and Company) -- would be 19thc and a reproduction of Meissen -- the mark looks very similar to yours. Found with Google lens.

Thank you. I also used google image search and incurred mixed findings. I agree the link you shared shows the similar mark, size of the urns, and subject matter. I've found similar marks on Helena Wolfsohn decorated porcelain.

Both Wolfson and Samson manufactured reproductions and/or imitations.

Yep. That's partly what makes this more difficult than I imagined
