Military issue Chair

Anyone know anything about these, or if there's any value in it? Really basic military issued desk chair...?

 

I think "HUD" stands for Housing and Urban Development-- the agency that does public housing and such. So maybe not military?

In general, a comercial chair for a lot of different uses. See these from all kinds of offices, libraries, schools, courthouses, etc. Used to be more popular than they are now. Assuming very good condition, $20.00 or so at retail seems to be the going rate here in the Midwest. Sets of 4 or more would probably do a little better. I can often pick singles up for as little as $5.00.

 

Not sure where you are getting 1965. I thought the 11/56 on the bottom might be a manufacturing date.

 

More likely the date of the contract to supply them.

Reminds me of the chairs we had in the college library.

 

Similar ones were everywhere. School libraries, my town library, offices....

 

Label could have been put on later. Looks like a possible older label to the right. Otherwise, certainly could be as late as the 60s. Made much the same for many years.
