Featured Ivory inlaid box, Spanish? Indian? Date?

They list this as "Marqueted coquera/herbadora, handmade, wrought iron plate without key. SOLD!!!!!!!!!" 396216067_1232159991049913_7531899351097322449_n.jpg

    I think the other stuff they had was good enough for a informed answer but if I get an answer is a different matter 1) because I wrote in English and 2) because I saw it took 6 weeks for them to reply to another question.

    Oh BTW I saw on their FB site a 1880's English box saying it's 1920's lol So I'm not sure.

    I don't know what the cost of importing from Peru but there was one thing I'm considering buying for the advertised price ;)

    that style of box certainly looks unique to an area and timeframe !

    I'm in no doubt that all 4 come form the same place (Peru) but the only one has a date and that can't be right, late 19th, early 20th c for $900 at auction is a huge amount, it had 14 bidders. I've been looking at the locks and seeing other chests and boxes from Peru with the same locks and they are all dated to 1750's or before.

    Yeah it's far better than mine but the lock is very close to mine and I was just trying to pin down the date.
