About 30 years ago I acquired an antique Railroad Desk. I recently had it restored. I could not find any information on it, but noticed this on the inside of the center drawer some letters and numbers. I've attached the photo of it. Is there anything you can tell me about it ?. Thanks, Jerry 0929191335[2.jpg

Think first bit is just abbreviation for number, then V0157. Model number. For whom...?

Can we see the whole thing? Does it have railroad markings? Which line/station was it from? I was raised by a rail nut.

Zooming in on the number, it looks like N & V O 157.
    Is N & V O an abbreviation for a RR line name?

Yeah, that's kind what I was thinking too, but from whom, where like you stated. Thanks.

Hmmm, that's a possibility, but I've never heard of a Railroad with those initials tho. Thanks.

It was from the DRGW Railroad in Walsenburg, Colorado. Seeing the whole thing ? Like the rest of the pics of the desk ?

I haven't either or I would have said so. There were an awful lot of short lines in the early days that have vanished.

Why didn't you mention where it came from to begin with. Please remember to give us the full litany of what you know when you write your opening post for the next item want to ask about. It will help us help you. ;)

Photos of rest of it might help figure out whodunnit. I'd be looking inside the drawers for more marks. My great-grandfather helped design some of the bridges on the D&RG, back before WWI. I had to look that city up; it's kinda bitty.

I found a picture of the station on Google Maps; it doesn't look like it's still in use.

That's cool that your Dad worked for the DRGW back in the day. That's where I started, in Colorado. Yes, Walsenburg is quite small. LOL

I guess I was figuring that was an abbreviation for Number. I don't know for sure tho.

1900 or so. Looks to be oak but can't tell for sure from these pics. Do think the NO is an abbreviation for number..... Either a model or inventory number.
